Pinecrest Solar Farm

Banpu Energy Australia is proposing to develop a 130 megawatt (MWp) solar farm, which will include an electrical substation and associated infrastructure.

Fast facts:

  • 130 MWp solar farm with a 30-year operational life

  • 240,000 solar panels, to be installed on the 300 ha site

  • 6,654 GWh of electricity produced, over the life of the project

  • High-voltage transmission line, connected too Transgrid’s Wallawerang Substation

  • Providing the energy needs of 20,175 households, every year

  • Reduced greenhouse gas emissions, equivalent to taking 34,510 cars off the road.

Community Information Sessions

The Project team hosted three community information sessions in June 2022 (one online and two drop-in sessions) as part of the Scoping Phase.

More community information sessions will be held in 2023 as part of preparing the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

The Project team is available to speak with outside of these information session times. Please contact us on 1300 032 358 (free call) or info@pinecrestsolarfarm.com.au at a time convenient to you.

Approvals process

Approval for the Project is being sought through a State significant development (SSD) application, to be assessed under Part 4 of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) is the determining authority for SSD applications.

EMM Consulting Pty Ltd is a leading Australian planning and environmental consultancy, engaged by Banpu Energy to prepare the Scoping Report and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Project.

Scoping Report

The Scoping Report is available to view on the Department of Environment and Planning's Major Project Portal. The Department's Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs), which will set out the technical requirements for the Project EIS, will also be published by DPE on the Major Project's Portal.

Where are we?

The Project is in early planning and approvals stages. Here’s a graphic that shows where we are now, and the expected Project delivery timeframe.
